In my last blog, I wrote about bass fishing plans for 2026. Here, my topic will be walleye fishing plans for 2026. Before I go into detail, I need to say that part of the agenda for the coming season as it relates to walleye fishing is to continue to develop skill using forward facing sonar (FFS) technology.

It’s New Year’s Day as I write this and must say that I am already very excited for the coming 2026 open water fishing season, particularly as it relates to bass fishing!  My excitement is founded by the fact that bass fishing on much of the waters I fish regularly continues to be very good, but it’s also exciting that my 2026 plan includes exploring some “new to me” bass fishing waters.

Fishin’ with Frisch, producers of the award-winning Fishing the Midwest TV series, announced today an agreement with MIDCO SPORTS, headquartered in Sioux Falls (SD). The agreement will add Fishing the Midwest TV episodes to the provider’s expansive list of leading regional sports programming. Fishing the Midwest will premiere on MIDCO SPORTS on January 18, 2026, with weekly airings at 9:30 am on Sundays with re-airs to occur during the following week as well.

When a person goes fishing, there are several decisions that need to be made. Where to go, when to go, who to go with, those thoughts all enter the picture. Then when we arrive at the body of water that we’ll be fishing, there’s more decisions. Should we chase bass, walleyes, panfish, or something else? What bait or lure should we start with?
