A Look Ahead – Walleyes

In my last blog, I wrote about bass fishing plans for 2026. Here, my topic will be walleye fishing plans for 2026. Before I go into detail, I need to say that part of the agenda for the coming season as it relates to walleye fishing is to continue to develop skill using forward facing sonar (FFS) technology.

A Look Ahead – Bass!

It’s New Year’s Day as I write this and must say that I am already very excited for the coming 2026 open water fishing season, particularly as it relates to bass fishing!  My excitement is founded by the fact that bass fishing on much of the waters I fish regularly continues to be very good, but it’s also exciting that my 2026 plan includes exploring some “new to me” bass fishing waters.

My Best Season Yet

The 2025 open water fishing season was a good one for this angler. Part of the reason it was good is because I made it a point to spend a vast majority of my free time fishing! Plus, my job as a TV show host keeps me on the water a lot for work. I am blessed to live where I live and do what I do!

Conditioned Fish

By Bob Jensen There are several things that can determine how many fish we catch when we go fishing. Weather, season, time of day, fishing pressure, and a good number of other factors can lead to fishing success or not so much fishing success. Another factor is conditioning. Kids Love Fishing!

I was fortunate to have adults in my life who took me fishing as a kid. I am lucky to work as an instructor for the ZEBCO School of Fish teaching kids about fishing. Finally, I am also lucky as host of Fishing the Midwest television to fish with kids every season.

Last Season Slabs

I love catching crappies. Most of my crappie fishing comes in spring and summer. During spring nothing beats watching a slip bobber slowly descend when a hungry shallow water slab inhales a small jig. During summer, I love the “tick” I feel and the impending hookset when slowly retrieving a Mr. Crappie plastic along a weedline. This fall, however, I “stumbled” upon some big crappies and have had lots of fun.
